Author Biography

Firstly, my name isn't T A. It's Trevor. I write under the androgynous name T A Williams because 65% of books are read by women. In my first book, "Dirty Minds" one of the (female) characters suggests the imbalance is due to the fact that men spend too much time getting drunk and watching football. I couldn't possibly comment. Ask my wife...
I've written all sorts: thrillers, historical novels, short stories and now I'm enjoying myself hugely writing humor and romance. Romantic comedies are what we all need from time to time. Life isn’t always very fair. It isn’t always a lot of fun, but when it is, we need to embrace it. If my books can put a smile on your face and maybe give your heartstrings a tug, then I know I’ve done my job.
I‘ve lived all over Europe, but now I live in a little village in sleepy Devon, tucked away in south west England. I love the place. That’s why you’ll find leafy lanes and thatched cottages in most of my books. Oh, yes, and a black Labrador.
I've been writing since I was 14 and that is half a century ago. However, underneath this bald, wrinkly exterior, there beats the heart of a youngster. My wife is convinced I will never grow up. I hope she's right.

Review - Inconceivable by Tegan Wren

SUMMARY
A popular, young royal couple can't produce an heir? INCONCEIVABLE!

When Ozarks native Hatty goes “whole hog” during karaoke, she catches the eye of Prince John. He isn’t what she expects the heir to a small European nation to be: he's affable, witty, and isn’t put off by her tell-it-like-it-is demeanor. Their flirtation should be short lived, but a force stronger than fate—Hatty’s newspaper editor—assigns her to cover the royals. After spending time together, she and John soon begin dating, and Hatty finds herself ma
king headlines instead of writing them.

But challenges loom that are even more complicated than figuring out how to mesh Hatty's journalism career with life at Belvoir Palace. Hatty and John soon find themselves embroiled in an unusual sex scandal: they can't produce an heir. Tabloids dub Hatty a “Barren-ess,” and the royals become irate. Hatty politely tells them to shove it. But beneath her confident exterior, she struggles to cope with a heartbreak that invades her most intimate moments with John. Pressured to choose between invasive medical procedures and abandoning John’s claim to the throne, the couple feels trapped until a trip to Ethiopia shows them happy endings sometimes arrive long after saying “I do.”

MY REVIEW
Let me begin by saying, I have never been so drawn into a story line as I was with Wren's book.  It all began with your typical fairly tale beginning, a young college student from the States going to college abroad and one night bumps into prince charming.  I think everyone wishes that could happen to them, and for Hatty it was reality.  But as the story progresses, we see life isn't all fancy dresses, trips to the ball and happily ever after.
Let's take it back to where it all began, a dimly lit karaoke bar and an amazing song that catches the princes eye.  Stimulating conversation between the two which leads her leaving with a smile on her face.  She goes into work the next day and is asked by her boss to cover a royal story...and this is where the crazy love affair starts to unfold.

It all seems so innocent in the beginning.  He asks her over for a tour of the castle, he hangs out and just talks to her, normal things that any friendship typically consists of.  Then little by little she gets the hint that he is falling for her and could she possibly be falling for him?

As I stated previously though, as their love story begins, it's not all rainbows and unicorns.  The family itself is not easy to get along with - from the playboy brother, to John's father having a secret relationship with a younger women and lastly a Queen who truly only cares about one thing - OK maybe two - herself and John producing an heir to one day take the throne.

There are so many twists and turns and ups and downs - you never know how Hatty and John's relationship will truly survive.  (You will be routing for them for sure though, I can guarantee that).

Will Hatty marry her Prince Charming?
We she graduate school and pursue her career or will she give that up for true love?
Will they fulfill the Queen's blatant request and have many adorable babies?
I will not be the person to ruin the story, but what I can say is that you will not be disappointed and you will have many long nights reading this true modern day fairy tale page turner.

WINE SELECTION
What better way to celebrate a modern day fairy tale - then with a perfect glass of bubbly.  (Hey a girl still needs to believe in some parts of the fairy tale, even today and champagne is the way to go!)
MY RATING
As I am sure you have already figured out, I am in love with this story and I give it 5 amazing glasses of wine!  It truly did not disappoint at all!

Review - Picnics in Hyde Park by Nikki Moore

SUMMARY
The last story in the fun & flirty #LoveLondon series from exciting new chick lit author Nikki Moore! The perfect novel for reading in the sunshine… and falling in love with London.

A summer to remember…or forget?

When Zoe Harper returns to the UK after five long years in New York, the last thing she expects is to find her younger sister Melody jobless, homeless, broke and dumped. Unfortunately, life has a way of delivering the unexpected. She should know that, given her ex-fiancĂ© Greg’s faithless behaviour.

Filled with rage and determined to get revenge on the infamous Reilly brothers for her sister’s heartbreak, as well as get some answers, Zoe hatches plan Nannygate. Unfortunately that means moving in with the gorgeous but uncaring music producer Matt Reilly to be nanny to his two adorable, complicated children. But something isn’t adding up, and over the course of the hot London summer, she starts to think that perhaps Matt isn’t so bad after all.

Let down by his last nanny and weighed down with guilt about his wife’s death three years before, wealthy but camera-shy Matt has spent a long time pushing people away, including his own kids. His stunning new nanny challenges him every single day in completely different ways, but maybe that isn’t such a bad thing?

But what happens when you open your heart, and someone isn’t who you thought they were? And can it really be true love when it’s on the rebound, and starts off with a plan for revenge?

MY REVIEW
A great series by Miss Nikki Moore!  Simply romantic - I have loved each that I have read to date and can't wait to read the rest!

What a lovely romantic story - I loved it from beginning to end!
Will Zoe want to remember this adventure (to say the least) for the rest of her life?  Or will she want to run away, possibly to the US (again) and escape the disaster she created?

Not only has Greg ruined her life and sent her packing but she is now caught up in drama that can simply not end well for anyone.

Her sister, Melody, was a nanny for a famous music producer in London and then one day he kicked her out - never told her why, she couldn't say good bye to her children, nothing.  She was told to leave and never contact him again.  Zoe, well trying to make up for leaving Melody 5 years prior for a man, decides to step in and teach Matt a lesson.  She entitles it Nannygate...

Only one little problem - she may have fallen in love with the man she is suppose to take down?  Oh boy...

She has also fallen in love with children - Jasper and Aimee - how will she ever live with herself for hurting these to innocent children?  Especially after she has helped them process their grief from losing their mother at such an early age?

This story will have you on so many twists and turns and twists again you won't want to put it down!  Excellent writing, great scene depiction and so much await you!

Enjoy!

WINE SELECTION
A rose would be a great choice for a romantic picnic in Hyde Park or any park of your choosing <3
MY RATING
I rate this truly divine London love story 5 glasses of wine - I simply could not put it down!

SUMMARY OF BOOK
The journey is only as good as its end…

It’s been a hard journey, but Lizzie Lambert’s life is a Provençal dream come true. Her business is wildly successful, and with her little boy and the love of her life, Cal, she is making a beautiful home on the vineyard for their blended family.

But when Cal goes to America to support his son through a teenage crisis, it becomes clear the kid’s not the only one with some growing up to do: Cal’s glamorous ex-wife wants to get her claws in him again. As Cal spends longer and longer away, Lizzie wonders, was it all too good to be true?

Escape to Provence with Karen Aldous’ The Riviera, the perfect read for an idyllic summer.

MY REVIEW
Let me begin by saying that the cover art for this book drew me in right from the beginning.  The colors are gorgeous and breathtaking.

I had a hard time getting into this book from the beginning though, content wise.  The story itself is intriguing and drew me in.  A new and magical relationship, love at first sight it seems.

Then Cal's son is starting to have issues back in America and Cal runs to his side as any parent would in his situation.  He feels anytime with his son is special and when Cal receives that cryptic message from his son he has no other choice to be by his side.

Cal only plans (hopefully) to be away a few days time.  He hopes he can fix things when he arrives.  Then he will send for Lizzie and her child to join him.

This time apart is not easy for Lizzie to handle and it becomes harder each and every day.

The initial short time Cal intended to spend becomes longer and longer.

Lizzie starts to worry - will he be coming back?  Is something happening happening with Cal's son's mom?

I found it hard to jump around between the different story lines and at times it made me lose interest in the story.  Nicely written but hard to keep my attention.

WINE SELECTION
An elegant wine to have in such a beautiful landscape - Chateau Miraval - amazing pink color with scents of white flowers, little red berries, freshly crushed strawberries and Morello cherries.
MY RATING
I rate The Riviera three wine glasses - it was hard to keep my interest but I am happy that I had the chance to read it.

Q & A with Lily Graham, author of An Invincible Summer

On this gorgeous Saturday morning here in a suburb outside of Rochester, New York, I have the pleasure of talking to Lily Graham, the author of An Invincible Summer!
I have also had the great pleasure of reading :

If you haven't already had the chance to read these amazing stories, please do!  You will not be disappointed!
Lily, thank you for taking time out of your busy weekend schedule to chat with me at One Book At A Time today!

Lily let me begin by saying, I am in love with your newest addition! LOVE An Invincible
Summer - Where did you get your inspiration for this book?

Oh wow! Thank you so much, I’m so touched! The story for how An Invincible Summer came about is a story in and of itself. I got the basic idea about eight years ago when my mother had breast cancer, it was such a tough time and I realized that I wasn’t doing what I wanted with my life. Facing the possibility that I may lose her it made me question life death and everything else. Thankfully she’s fine now but it had such an impact on my life. I became inspired by people who made dramatic changes in their lives, people who choose to live life to the full, and I especially like the idea of
running away to find yourself again. I started writing the first draft of what was called then The Jasmine Garden. It stayed in a drawer for the next few years until my best friend told me that she thought there was something there. I decided to take her advice and finally finish it. In the end I rewrote it in its entirety, using much deeper themes and setting it in Crete – one of the most beautiful places in the world.

If An Invincible Summer was made into a movie - who do you see as your cast of characters? There are so many I would love to know - Ria, Tom, Tony, EVERYONE!

I love this question, I am so glad you asked! I have a very specific answer for Tom – he is very much
based on Tom Hiddleston. I have never done this before but he really inspired my Tom. I know
readers picture their own versions but that’s who I pictured when I wrote it … dark, brooding,
handsome with an intellectual bent, almost too good-looking for his own good which causes him
some problems. Ria is a bit of a combination, I think a young Diane Lane or Ellen Pompeo – she has
that sort of irreverent wit that they share.
Caroline would be the one and only Joanna Lumley, witty, naughty, deliciously wicked … Tony is
Jason Straitham? Possibly not. Christopher would be someone like Armie Hammer (love him), and
Iliana would be Eva Longoria – she’s beautiful, and can definitely act the spoiled yet sophisticated
temptress that I pictured Iliana as.

WHAT GREAT CHARACTER CHOICES!

Your details about Crete and the vineyard and the ocean were so vivid, did you visit the area
before writing this book? How do you do your research?

Thanks so much!  I’ve visited Crete before but not with the intention at the time to set a book there,
but when it came time to rewrite An Invincible Summer, I decided on Crete because of the vineyards
– some of the most famous Greek wine comes from the island. There’s only so much you see though
in a short visit, so I did a lot of research at the library, reading travel books online, watching videos
about the culture etc – I love the research part. Possibly too much as I went down a bit of a rabbit
hole for a while.  I spent two weeks learning how a vineyard worked! I interviewed one of the
owners at Manousakis Winery in Crete as well – they were so helpful. Still I had to change some
things for the story, so I had to take a little poetic licence, I hope wine aficionados will forgive me!
The pinotage is a reference to my South African ancestry. I’m a big pinotage fan.

When you aren’t writing, what do you do for fun?
Reading! I am such an avid reader with eclectic tastes. I love children’s books, fantasy, travel
memoirs, if I don’t have a good story to read I get a bit grumpy. It’s partly the reason I became a
writer. I became frustrated as there was a story I wanted to read and couldn’t find it so I wrote it!
The other great love is of course travelling though I don’t get to do it as much as I would like. I also
love painting. I’m new to art, only learnt how to draw in my twenties but it’s a real love affair.

Lastly, for your devoted readers such as myself, do you have any other books in the works? Any details that you would like to share?
Ah thank you so much! That means the world! Yes, at the moment I’m finishing up a children’s story that will be published under another name, hopefully soon. But I have big plans for my next Lily
Graham books (sorry to use third person, lol). I’m thinking of writing a non-fiction book to help
women be kinder to themselves. It’s a topic so dear to my heart. We’re all so hard on ourselves, and
it just gets in the way and keeps us from realizing our dreams. We say things to ourselves that we
would never dream of saying to to our friends. So that’s a passion project I want to work on soon!

I’m also working on Dreaming of Elephants, a sweeping saga set in Africa and Cornwall about a man who is given the heart of a woman during a transplant and how seeing the world with a woman’s
heart begins to change him.  It’s slightly magical, a bit esoteric. I’m excited for this one. I’ve also got
plans for a book set in World War 2 about a woman’s sewing circle for the war effort. Lots of plans,
just got to get it all done! But that’s the exciting bit.

I am so excited about each of these new ideas!  I can't wait till they come to life!

Lily, THANK YOU so much for visiting One Book At A Time this weekend!  I had an amazing time catching up with you and helping your readers learn more about the woman behind such amazing stories!  I look forward to hearing more about this future endeavors when you are ready to share!  You will have o stop by and fill my readers in as well!

Review - An Invincible Summer by Lily Rose Graham

SUMMARY
On an ordinary Tuesday Ria Laburinthos decides to run away. There is nothing ordinary about her decision though. It’s been coming for years. Years of grief and her dreaded job as an obituary writer. Then when her horrible boss aka ‘The devil-who-wears-Birkenstocks’ asks her to share her story, about how the best day of her life turned into the unequivocal worst, she decides enough is enough.

Which is how she finds herself on a plane to Crete bound by the tales she heard growing up from her beloved Yaya. What she doesn’t expect to find though is Elysium a thousand-year-old family vineyard that burnt down amidst a cloud of mystery, and the enigmatic son, Tom Bacchus who is trying to resurrect it.

Part love story, part mystery An Invincible Summer is a story about having the courage to start over, follow your heart, and fall in love again.

MY REVIEW
Where do I begin - a heartwarming summer read.  I was puled into the story from the heartbreaking beginning to the happily ever after ending.
Ria was doing her best to make it through each day after the accident...one obituary at a time.  How on earth she could right those day in and day is beyond me.
The description of her boss is priceless yet so true - The Devil Wears Birkenstock's - LOVE IT!
After dealing with that woman day in and day out, Ria had enough.
Then she ends up at the airport.  How did she get there?  What was she doing?  Where was she going?
Passport in hand she was leaving for a fresh start.  She was headed to Crete.
As soon as she landed she could totally understand what her grandmother, Yaya, had always loved.  It was truly magical and breathtaking.
She had been walking around - a sight to see for sure - a suit and flips.  But how was she suppose to know to pack for paradise when she never knew the plan!
The she sees that ad of a lifetime - a job as an assistant - perfect for her in so many ways.  She can stay just a little bit longer in her new found heaven and she had a means to survive.
The writing of this story is breathtaking, you are taken away to another part of the world and you truly feel as if you are right there with Ria.
She is going through an emotional journey that has you in tears of sadness one moment to tears of joy the next.  You will not want to stop reading until you have reached the end.  And at that point you will hope there is another book to follow!

WINE SELECTION
I would pair this breathtaking tale with a cross between a Pinot Noir and Cinsault - Pinotage
MY RATING
I would rate this heartwarming tale 5 glasses of wine -  It had me coming back for more around each and every twist and turn.
