Review - Gamer Girl by Glynis Astie

BLURB
Struck by tragedy at an early age, Meri Palmer escaped into the only world she understood. Within the virtual realm of online gaming, she lived a life filled with mythical creatures and thrilling adventures, where she was strong, powerful, clever, and beautiful—everything she believed she wasn't in real life. As the years went by, her desire to cling to her cherished fantasyland only grew stronger.

But when Meri meets Morgan, equal parts gorgeous and goofball, she begins to wonder if the time has finally come to rejoin the so-called real world. Channeling the bravery of her fairy warrior alter ego, Meri slowly lets Morgan beyond the protective walls she’s built around her heart. Just as she finds a comfortable groove in an uncertain world, Morgan succumbs to insecurities of his own, leaving her lost and confused. Through her battle to regain her equilibrium, Meri will discover that even in reality, things aren’t always what they seem.

Will Meri win the battle raging in her heart and summon the will to rescue her knight in shining armor? Or will she give in to the fear and find her game over?

MY REVIEW
I have never been one for video games, so I'm not gonna lie, I was a little lost for a while in the different video "speak" sections.  But once I read a few I found it quite interesting and it helped me understand the world that my son loves just a little bit better!  Score one for mom!
When your reality gets turned upside down, what would you do?  In Meri Palmer's world the only place that she can escape to is the world's and lives she has created in video games.  She can connect better with those characters then she can with friends and family in real life.  Will she be able to step outside her fantasy and live in the here and now?
And then Morgan appears - what should Meri do?  Her feelings are starting to become apparent, but is she ready?  She has lived such a sheltered life that it's all a little unsettling.
But the real issue lies in the fact that Morgan isn't having the easiest time either.  Will they be able to help each other step out of their comfort zones and truly fall in love?  Do they have a destiny together or do their video games remain their way of life?  Check out this fun, gamer book and see what happens between Meri and Morgan!

DRINK SELECTION
I would choose a fun IPA to go along with this story -  Fantasyland Midwest Coast IPA Ale!

RATING
I thought it was a fun tale of love and video and I give it four wine glasses!  It was fun and had me wanting to know what would happen in the end!
