Review: My Not So Perfect Life by Sophia Kinsella

Everywhere Katie Brenner looks, someone else is living the life she longs for, particularly her boss, Demeter Farlowe. Demeter is brilliant and creative, lives with her perfect family in a posh townhouse, and wears the coolest clothes. Katie’s life, meanwhile, is a daily struggle—from her dismal rental to her oddball flatmates to the tense office politics she’s trying to negotiate. No wonder Katie takes refuge in not-quite-true Instagram posts, especially as she's desperate to make her dad proud.

Then, just as she’s finding her feet—not to mention a possible new romance—the worst happens. Demeter fires Katie. Shattered but determined to stay positive, Katie retreats to her family’s farm in Somerset to help them set up a vacation business. London has never seemed so far away—until Demeter unexpectedly turns up as a guest. Secrets are spilled and relationships rejiggered, and as the stakes for Katie’s future get higher, she must question her own assumptions about what makes for a truly meaningful life.

My Thoughts
Sophia really hit this one out of the park. I couldn't make it through a day without reading several chapters either at school or at work on break, I always had this book with me.  Even work friends were asking me to tell them how it was because they had heard so much excitement around this release.
Katie "Cat" Brenner is truly amazing - she is a small town girl who wants to make it big in London.  She will do anything to make that happen from changing her name, losing her accent, recreating a whole new look from clothes to make-up and hair.  But will that truly make Cat happy and all her dreams come true?
She struggles daily with office politics - is this truly the success that she was looking for?  To come to work and be treated like a second class citizen and back stabbing behind each corner?
Then the worst happens, how will Cat make her dream of London a permanent reality with NO JOB?  Yes, you heard me correctly, Cat was fired!
And back to Somerset she heads with her tale between her legs and a secret a mile long that she is going to keep from her dad and Biddy.
Craziness ensues from her dad's crazy investment schemes to an appearance from a few of her co-workers down on the farm!
Run, don't walk, and buy this book today!  Trust me!

Drink Selection
I had to go with a fun "Londonesque" drink, with a (few) glass of Robin Hood, Quince of Thieves!
It has a yummy blend of Somerset apple brandy (Somerset!), quince liqueur, honey mead, lemon, and even a mini apple bullseye.  Yum!

Rating
5 wine glasses all the way, there is no other acceptable rating!  You must check this book out!  You will want to book a flight to London tomorrow!  (Now what can I do with my job and kids on short notice, hmmmm, OK it may have to wait a bit but you know what I mean!)
